People often say that furniture serves as the backbone of a home. One’s furniture defines their lifestyle and personal preferences. That’s why I always love to browse catalogues, magazines, stores, and even my friends’ homes for fresh ideas on revamping my own home. While spending on furniture can be a big shock to the pocket, my take away is that the quality pieces should last you a long time and never go out of style.
I personally prefer modern Nordic-style furniture with minimalistic design. For example, my dining room is adorned with a full set of boxy chairs and a rectangular dining table with tapered legs. The accent wall is covered with oak wood paneling for a rustic look. The décor also features a tall glass sculpture along the side of the wall to inject a touch of class.
The living room has a minimal look, with a simple L-shaped sofa at the center. With velvety fabric upholstery, the sofa is a great place to enjoy bonding time with family. In terms of lighting, although the natural sunlight from the windows is generally enough to light up the room in broad daylight, I have opted for subtle recessed lights from the ceiling to add a touch of warmth in the evening.
My bedroom is the place where my true home décor style shines. I have gone for contemporary furniture pieces that focus on clean lines and quality materials. For instance, I have a soft grey headboard in the shade of heather for a calming and cool atmosphere. The bed also comes with two hidden drawers to store my extra bed linens and spare pillows. On the other side of the room, I have a grey wardrobe and a full length mirror.
For smaller furniture pieces, I have my share of wood and metal pieces. These mostly include accent pieces such as plant stands and console tables. I get a lot of creative ideas for these pieces when I browse through flea markets or look at furniture catalogues. I’m also big on handmade pieces, as they inject an instant feeling of hominess to the space.
Overall, I’m a big believer of creating living and bedroom spaces with an aesthetically pleasing look and cozy ambience. With the right furniture, these spaces can be transformed into wonders. And if ever the urge to revitalize the décor arises, switching up pieces with statement center pieces would be the easiest way to revamp. Resin Wicker Outdoor Furniture
